Junior Leaders at Camp Sylvan

Junior Leaders at Camp Sylvan

The Junior Leaders program is not currently active.

Ausable Bayfield Conservation thanks all the secondary school students who worked with children, loved the outdoors, and were interested in learning more about protecting soil, water, and living things in their watershed community.

This was a great volunteer opportunity.

Ausable Bayfield Conservation’s Conservation Education Program at Camp Sylvan  invited volunteer secondary school students to come out as Junior Leaders in the spring and autumn seasons.

Junior Leaders helped with the Sylvan Conservation Education Program, at Camp Sylvan, for programs of one-and-a-half and two-and-a-half days in length.

To qualify, candidates were asked to:

  • Be 15 years old
  • Love the outdoors
  • Be outgoing and energetic
  • Enjoy working with children and youths

As a Junior Leader, they:

  • Gained valuable leadership skills
  • Completed volunteer hours
  • Learned more about protecting soil, water, and living things in their community
  • Acquired great experiences for college and university applications and for résumés
