Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation 2016 Student Environmental Award
 
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation is offering a $1,000 cash award for a graduating secondary school student OR a student currently enrolled in university or college pursuing education in a conservation-related or environment-related course of study such as biology, ecology, geography, forestry, fish and wildlife, agriculture, or outdoor education. 
 
The completed Essay, Application Form and Two Reference Letters must bee-mailed with ‘Student Environmental Award’ in the subject line to info@abca.on.ca by 4:30 p.m. local time, Friday, June 30, 2017. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Eligibility 

Eligible students must be between the ages of 17-25, have a permanent address within a municipality of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority watershed, be currently enrolled in university or college, or graduating secondary school, and pursuing a post-secondary education in a conservation/environmental related course of study (e.g., biology, ecology, geography, forestry, fish and wildlife, agriculture, outdoor education, etc.). 
 
Only students who have a permanent address in the following municipalities are eligible to apply for the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation Student Environmental Award: 
  • Township of Adelaide Metcalfe
  • Municipality of Bluewater
  • Municipality of Central Huron
  • Municipality of Huron East
  • Municipality of Lambton Shores
  • Township of Lucan Biddulph
  • Township of Perth South
  • Township of Middlesex Centre
  • Municipality of North Middlesex
  • Municipality of South Huron
  • Township of Warwick
  • Municipality of West Perth

Submission Criteria 
  1. A creative two-page essay is to be written by the applicant on their personal involvement, paid or volunteer work with, an environmental  or conservation-based project and/or organization.
  2. Please include, in the essay, a description of meaningful experiences pertaining to personal and professional growth gained from their involvement with the environmental or conservation-based project and/or organization.
  3. Please also include, in the essay, personal reasons for involvement with the environmental or conservation-based project and/or organization.
  4. State how this meaningful experience with the environmental or conservation-based project and/or organization will aid and assist with your future career aspirations.
  5. Lastly, please include two (2) reference letters in support of past experiences and/or involvement with environmental or conservation-based project and/or organization. 
Application Procedure 
  1. Each eligible student is invited to submit an essay and completed Application Form for consideration by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation Board of Directors. Note: It is at the discretion of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation, to award to a successful student, up to $1,000 based upon the quality of applications and essays received. Foundation reserves the right not to present the award in any given year.
  2. The completed essay and Application Form must be e-mailed with ‘Student Environmental Award’ in the subject line; mailed or hand delivered by 4:30 p.m., local time, Thursday, June 30, 2016 to the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) office. Late submissions will not be accepted.
