Up to Four-month Summer Position –  Assistant Water Resources Technician

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) is taking applications for the up to four-month summer position of Assistant Water Resources Technician. This position may be combined with a similar Summer Employment Opportunity (SEO) position.

  • Assist with the collection, entry and/or analysis of water resources data which will be used in the delivery of the Conservation Authority Flood Forecasting and Warning Program, Low Water Response Program, Healthy Watersheds Program and/or the Provincial Groundwater Monitoring Network.  
  • Data may be related to one or more of the following: groundwater, surface water, geomorphology, meteorology, water quality (benthic and chemistry), or fisheries  . Specialized equipment will be used and maintained in the collection of the data. 
  • Working towards a degree from accredited university or diploma from accredited college in civil or environmental engineering or resource management 
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers running Windows operating system, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Internet, electronic mail software applications, digital cameras and electronic presentation equipment. 
  • Team player with good organization, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. 
  • Eligible to participate in the Summer Employment Opportunity job program. Candidates must be students or recent graduates (in the past six months), Ontario residents and legally entitled to work in Canada and as of May 15, be between the ages of 15 and 24, or up to 29 with a disability. 
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence will be required of the successful candidate. . Ability to work outdoors and in adverse environmental conditions. 

Remuneration: $16.47 to $19.56 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Hours: 35 hours per week with some evenings and weekends.
